Optical Ocean Modular Double YS-D1 Lighting Package
The Optical Ocean Sales Modular Double Sea & Sea YS-D1 Lighting Package is the answer for underwater photographers that want a great quality 2 strobe lignhting package. Will fit any point and shoot camera housing including Olympus, Canon, Fuji, Fantasea or others that use a single tripod style mount screw. Tray can be drilled to fit Ikelite UltraCompact Housings. Larger housings such as mirrorless dslrs should use either one of the I-DAS Flat tray or S-Tray sets, as the modular tray is too small.
Made from black anodized aluminum, the Modular Tray features the strong OOTB-01 base mount tray with the OOET-02 extension, along with 2 HB-01 handles and 2 fully adjustable ball and joint arm systems (OOARM-01). This includes 2x YS mount arms for strobe and focus lights. Ball and joint arm systems are much stronger, adjustable and will stay in one position better than flex arms. The other handle has a mount for a focus light. You can expand this with extra arms and a triple clamp (#3013) for another strobe, with the focus light. An option is to substitute 6 and 8", or 6 and 10" arms.
Revising the algorithms used for the DS-TTL system, the YS-D1 employs a totally new slave TTL system. The strobe can adjust the interval between the pre flash and the primary flash in order to be compatible with a wide-variety of cameras, if not all, on the market today. The strobe is equipped with DS-TTL ll mode which is more responsive, more precise and more reliable. The DS-TTL ll enables a variety of strobe sync photography such as slave TTL and slave manual (11 steps) with compact or digital SLR cameras. When used with a digital SLR camera in housing, the strobe can also be connected with a conventional sync cord and through a YS Converter for TTL strobe photography. In a clear water environment, two YS-D1 strobes in DS-TTL ll mode provide perfect lighting. When you would like to emphasize contrast, setting the main strobe in DS-TTL II mode and the secondary strobe in manual mode (11 steps) offers flexibility without limiting control. When underwater visibility is poor, two YS-D1Õs set to manual mode may produce the best images.
The YS-D1 is the most versatile underwater strobe available today. The DS-TTL exposure compensation function enables subtle lighting control by adjusting the Light Level dial in DS-TTL mode.
Powered by only four AA batteries, the YS-D1 offers a maximum light output of Guide Number 32. Highly versatile, the YS-D1 offers more automatic and manual control over lighting to get that perfect exposure. Not only is the YS-D1 suitable for macro photography, but also is robust enough for wide-angle photography. it is also ideal for macro photography which requires delicate light level control. The strobe's 32 guide number can be reduced to 1.
The YS-D1 is the world's first slave TTL strobe equipped with an exposure compensation (EV) control function.
By controlling the actual flash light level, the strobe realizes accurate exposure compensation with EV value. Regardless of a compact or a SLR camera, you can achieve any desired exposure compensation. However, many TTL systems are not reliable. The YS-D1's DS-TTL exposure compensation function allows users to adjust the light level in TTL mode (-1.5EV, -1EV, -0.7EV, -0.3EV, +0.3EV, +0.7EV, +1EV, +1.5EV).
